About Us

The UT Bio-MEMS Lab has been established by Dr. Moghimi Zand in the School of Mechanical Engineering, College of Engineering, University of Tehran. Most of the researchers focus on developing novel micro- and nanotechnologies to improve human health. Our group conducts research on bio micro or nano devices, which aims to miniaturize systems or tools for use in fundamental biomedical diagnostics and therapy, mostly cancer engineering and infertility-aid devices. The place is the home to the talented group of interdisciplinary scholars including undergraduates, graduates and post-docs.

Research

Lab-on-a-Chip

A lab-on-a-Chip is a device that integrates one or several laboratory functions on a single chip of only several millimeters to achieve automation and high-throughput screening in Biomedical applications, such as Cancer Engineering.

Dental and Vertebral Implants

One of our goals is to develop different dental miniscrews and vertebral implants with better geometries and materials to improve the designs and to gain the biomechanical and economical advantages.

Bio-MEMS & Bio-Microfluidics

BioMEMS combine MEMS (Microelectromechanical systems) technology and biomolecular components to sense, analyze, measure or actuate different biomedical parameters.
